Tenerife – La Gomera

For those that want to combine the feel of familiarity with a touch of the unknown, a Tenerife and La Gomera multi-centre holiday is sure to enchant. Relish in the stunning weather, vibrant nightlife and astonishing beaches of Tenerife before traversing to La Gomera, with its misty forests, deep volcanic valleys and untouched appeal. Travel by ferry in just 40 minutes and spot dolphins and whales along the way.

Tenerife

For most, a holiday must include perfect weather, luxurious hotels and tempting cuisine, which Tenerife certainly provides. Start your mornings to the sounds of tropical birds and swaying palms before a relaxing day spent poolside. For those that like to break up time in the sun, Tenerife offers a wealth of shops and restaurants, as well as a diverse range of tours and excursions to entertain, including volcano climbing, designer shopping, wine tasting, hiking, star gazing and wild dolphin spotting.

La Gomera

The land that time seems to have forgotten, La Gomera seems a world away from Tenerife. Its Jurassic style landscapes and volcanic beaches are truly astonishing. What you’ll find most enchanting in La Gomera is the feeling of peace and quiet, as well as the odd whistling language locals use to communicate across sculpted valleys. Enjoy a myriad of walking trails, traditional villages and the unique restaurant ‘Mirador de Abrante’ which gives way to phenomenal views.

UNESCO Biosphere Reserve: Fuerteventura – Lanzarote

The neighbouring islands of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura are just 14km apart, yet dramatically different from each other. Start your adventure on the sandy island of Fuerteventura, where the beaches are pristine, before reaching the lunar landscapes of Lanzarote and the spectacular Timanfaya National Park. Due to their beautiful landscapes both Lanzarote and Fuerteventura are within a protected UNESCO biosphere reserve, so you can guarantee a unique range of natural phenomena and distinctive flora and fauna.

Fuerteventura

As the closest Canary Island to the North African continent, Fuerteventura’s climate brings warm winds from the Sahara, resulting in a year-round warmth and excellent opportunities for watersports. Perfect for sun worshippers, Fuerteventura is home to some of the biggest and best beaches in the Canary Islands, including the sheltered sands of Corralejo, where a belt of glorious sand dunes is protected within a nature reserve. Simply spend time savouring the relaxed Spanish way of life, the exotic flavours of the food and the many delights that the beaches have to offer.

Lanzarote

Lanzarote exhibits landscapes that appear as if you’ve flown to the moon, not a Spanish island. Its volcanic history is evident in the moon-like vistas of Timanfaya National Park and in the innovative food and wine growing methods that locals have adopted. Thanks to native artist Cesar Manrique, who dedicated his life to the conservation of the culture, landscapes and architectural integrity of Lanzarote, building regulations prohibit the construction of high-rise buildings, leaving views unscathed.

Transfer time: Approximately 20 minute ferry between Fuerteventura and Lanzarote.

Granada – Nerja

For lovers of architecture, history and Spanish Tapas, a Granada and Nerja multi-centre holiday adds an exotic and enthralling twist to a typical Spanish holiday. Lap up the Moorish design and spellbinding architecture of Alhambra Palace in Granada before travelling south to unwind in the pretty seaside town of Nerja, where stunning views of cobalt blue sea and tempting Spanish eateries delight the senses.

Granada

At the foot of the snow-capped Sierra Nevada mountains, the alluring palace of Alhambra invites travellers from all over the world. The ornate palace is a treasure trove of Moorish design and Spanish influence. As well as the palace, the city of Granada holds many delights including a gothic old quarter, renaissance cathedral and a truly exceptional food and wine scene. Simply meander the narrow streets, taste the spices of the region in local tapas haunts, catch a fiery flamenco performance and you’ll quickly fall in love with the city’s inviting bohemian flare.

Nerja

A visit to the delightful town of Nerja brings the many delights of a Spanish seaside holiday with an irresistible and characterful twist. Despite the usual souvenir shops and tourist affair, Nerja has seemed to escape the package holiday feel. The low-rise architecture of its buildings, the battle-weary castle which stands by the beach and the majestic presence of the Sierra Lamijara, all give this town its own unique personality that’s utterly inviting. Simply indulge in delightful tapas, relax on blue-flag beaches and be captivated by stunning views out to sea, all with a few siestas in-between of course.

Transfer time: 1 hour and 15 minutes by car.

Practical Information

Getting around Spain

On the mainland, rail travel is the most efficient way to travel between major cities thanks to its high-speed network. For smaller towns and shorter distances its sometimes easier to travel by car, and car hire and taxis are very accessible. In the Canary Islands, frequent ferry services and internal flights with Binter Canarias connect the islands with ease. A reliable ferry service also operates between the Balearic Islands.

Best time to visit Spain

For the warmest weather the best time to visit Spain is between April and October. Further south in the Atlantic the Canary Islands are warm all year round and serve as fantastic destinations for winter sun holidays. For non-family holidays the best time to visit Spain is the months of April, May, June, September and October to avoid the soaring prices, crowds and scorching heat that arrives in July and August.
