Luxury Alvor Holidays
Explore Alvor
Located on the Algarve southern coastline, close to where the Rio Alvor estuary meets the sea is the parish of Alvor. Although it has a reputation for being a quaint fishing village, Alvor has long been at the centre of Portuguese history, having been settled in ancient times and for being the final resting place of King Joao II in 1495.
Today, the village has retained much of its charm and original Moorish architecture, and visitors are still charmed by the old town and idyllic harbour. A wander along the winding streets reveal a plethora of bars and eating establishments which are sure to cater for all tastes.
With its rolling dunes, pristine Blue Flag beaches and the local Splash Water Park and Zoomarine sea-life centre it is not surprising that Alvor is a popular family holiday destination.
